AGE: 16 (Player’s note: There are timeline inconsistencies concerning how old Bulla is, with the youngest possible age being ten years old and the oldest being mid-teens. In the dub she is a teenager, and that’s what I’m going with here)

PERSONALITY:

What impression does your character give when meeting someone for the first time? How does the first impression differ from your character’s true nature?

When one first meets Bulla, she comes across as someone who is warm and friendly, albeit a bit shallow and spoiled. She loves fashion and shopping, and her shopping hauls can fill a car - all paid for by her family. She easily converses with people that she’s just met. What isn’t obvious until one gets to know her is that Bulla is extremely intelligent (especially with technology) and that she’s a competent martial artist. She’s also open minded, accepting and generous, and considerably less spoiled than one might expect of someone who’s lived with the vast wealth that her family has. Alien species? Not a problem, she’s only half-human herself. Magic artifacts? Her family and close family friends have a history of collecting seven mystic balls that summon a wish granting dragon. When riled up, Bulla also has much more of a temper than one might expect when first meeting her - she’s inherited this from both of her parents, along with her capacity for trash talking. She can be brave to the point of being foolish when her temper gets in the way, but some of her bravery stems from a genuine desire to help and ensure that others aren’t hurt.

How does your character handle stress? What do they do in an emergency?

Bulla’s ability to accurately assess threats is rather poor. She can read people’s body language and facial expressions well enough, but beyond that…it’s just not there. A good example of this is when a close friend of the family, Gohan, is possessed. Bulla notices right away that there’s something off about him and remarks to her father Vegeta that it looks like Gohan is upset and wants to fight someone. However, a moment later when he lands in front of their car, turns into a super saiyan and fires off a ki blast right at them, she freezes up and Vegeta has to whisk her out of harm’s way. Despite this, she walks up to Gohan to tell him off for this, saying that he should stop standing around like an idiot and apologize and that she’s one blue haired girl he doesn’t want to make angry. Vegeta intervenes again, this time grabbing Bulla by the arm and flinging her back a significant distance to their damaged car and tells her to leave. Bulla is concerned for him and asks if he’ll be okay before finally leaving on his insistence. She’s not hopeless in an emergency, but she lacks the experience to handle it well without guidance. Having grown up in a peaceful time with a wealthy and loving family, Bulla hasn’t had to endure many significant stresses.

What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?

Bulla doesn’t have any major ambitions and goals because as far as she’s concerned, her future is all set out for her. She anticipates inheriting and running her family’s business, Capsule Corp. Though her elder brother Trunks is the current president, he often ditches his work and isn’t happy with the role. Like their mother Bulma, he would prefer to tinker with technology and invent rather than run a business. Bulla also enjoys that, but is a far more socially outgoing person than her brother and is more open to the role of president. She values her family and her family’s legacy enough to want to keep the business family-run. She would like to come up with some creations of her own one day, and maybe expand the business to other areas, but she doesn’t have anything in particular in mind. It’s more of a general feeling that Capsule Corp is where she belongs, and that she should help it grow and thrive. As a martial artist, she’s trained enough to be able to defend herself and be competent in a fight. She does think about her saiyan heritage to some degree, but lacks the drive to constantly push her limits or compete against others.

POWERS

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
-Saiyan physiology: This includes superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, pain threshold and accelerated healing, as well as an affinity for ki manipulation. Effectively, saiyans are speedy flying bricks and what doesn’t kill them only makes them stronger.

-Super saiyan transformation: As a half-saiyan, Bulla possesses the potential to transform. However, because she lacks the drive to fight that most saiyans and hybrid saiyans have, it’s something she could only achieve through extreme (ie: life threatening) circumstances. If someone close to her was seriously harmed by a threat Bulla was struggling against, that would trigger it. The transformation functions as a power multiplier. Once it has initially been achieved, it can be activated more easily with practice over time.

-Ki manipulation: Bulla is able to use ki (energy) to fly, fire off blasts from her hands, transfer ki to others, and release omnidirectional energy waves. The ki waves are more defensive than nature, useful for throwing off multiple attackers closing in, whereas the blasts are offensive. Transferring ki to someone can replenish their energy and strength or increase it, and it can stabilize someone who is near-death, but cannot heal them.

Genius level intellect: As a child, Bulla is shown being able to deal with a computer virus that infected her mother’s laptop within seconds, after her brother (in his teens) was unable to fix it. She has a high aptitude for technology in particular.

NERFING: The bulk of Bulla’s abilities will be nerfed down to 20% of their normal capability. The super saiyan transformation will only be activated through an appropriate circumstance in game (ie. something like a monster attack & someone from Bulla’s close CR is badly hurt) and will only last for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Her intelligence doesn’t really require nerfing as her ability to build anything will be limited by in game resources and the inability to leave the city. She won’t be able to build a spaceship, capsule that can contain a car, or any of the other wild technology that her family has built in the Dragonball franchise. What she could do would be to repair or even improve existing tech, such as re-wiring the motherboard of a computer in the abandoned office buildings so that instead of working like a standard computer from the early 2000s, it would have the capability of a high end computer from 2023. Or create apps for cell phones such as a day planner or a game. Things that people could benefit from, but nothing game breaking.

On a more general note, I plan on playing with Bulla’s technological affinity more than her potential as a fighter. Were there an event where characters had to either explore to find a solution or fight, she’d be more likely to choose exploring. Her powers will be used more for personal convenience than combat, such as flying to an apartment on a higher floor rather than take the elevator or stairs.
