2nd shopping trip [Video, filtered from Vegeta]

Hey everyone! I've already got Mother's Day covered for celebrating with my mom, but things are a little trickier with my dad. I've been thinking about it and the thing that would make him the happiest would be if I spent the whole day training with him. He's a super strong martial artist and it's his favourite thing to do.

[Which will be a real labour of love. There's no way she'd willingly subject herself to anything close to what her father would consider a good amount of training on a regular basis.]

I've already been getting some training, but I've never gone all out and trained for a whole day straight.

[It's never appealed to her before. Not even remotely. Regular exercise is one thing, and dancing is fun. 8+ consecutive hours of intense training is something she'll need to work herself up to if she's going to be able to move the next day.]

So...I was hoping to find people that would be willing to spar with me. I want to get strong enough to protect little kids that get drafted and I want to make my dad's Father's Day really special. I'm pretty durable and I can fly, so you don't need to worry about me being too fragile to handle it.

[She smiles and waves.]

C'mon. Just because we're working here doesn't mean you've gotta think of me as some kinda ogre!

[He fired off a few more rounds, taking advantage of her distraction to catch her off guard.]

That's a pretty noble goal! I did that once, on some moon. A little girl wanted to go out collecting moon rocks and she was kinda adamant about it. So I made her focus exclusively on the ground as I tossed explosives, swords, and knives from above. Whenever someone approached me for close range combat, I made her play admire her current moon rock, where she just described what it looked like as long as humanly possible. [ Tenten is kinda weird. And her child rearing skills are not the best. Still, they were adequate. ]

Okay!

[ Korra takes a step back and shifts her aim to the left, bending out an impressive set of fire blasts. ]

When is Father's Day? [A pause] That is impressive. Do you think you are capable of achieving that? Is your body capable of withstanding that pressure?

I never said you wereeeeeep!

[Bulla squeaks when the paint pellets start flying her way again. She's suddenly forced to get moving again, and she's determined not to get hit with any more of the things, even if it will wash out.

Eventually another one pelts her leg and brightly coloured paint explodes all over it.]

Did you really forget the point of this?

[Stay alert or get smacked. Those would be her only options if Vegeta decided to work her hard. If he could dodge these little paintballs, she should be able to as well.

Cliff set the gun down, taking her yelp as his cue.]

Alright then. Whatever. Let's take a breather here. Heads up!

[He tossed a bottle of water, cold and still dripping with ice water from the cooler it came from, at her. It was murder to work in this weather.]

[Sparring? Makeovers? Fashion advice? Hey gurl, we need to talk!]

I don't think I'll need a makeover or a fashion advice. [Since she's already gorgeous! Then again, someone to talk to about these kind of things interests her.] But I'm willing to spar with you, if you want.

Maybe you'd just like some shopping company sometime, then. What kind of fighting style do you fight with?

Father's Day is June 16th. And...I think I might. I couldn't stand the 300 times Earth's gravity that Dad prefers training in, but I am half Saiyan, and the gravity on the Saiyan planet was 10 times Earth's gravity...so maybe. I'll have to try something at the Battle Dome when my father isn't there.

Moon rocks? You mean the missions here take you all the way to moons?

[She blinks.]

I was thinking I'd mostly just fly kids out of harm's way and stuff. But it would be good to get better at fighting so that if I had to fight, I'd be able to.

[Bulla watches with interest. She's seen ki blasts before and she's seen fire, but she's never seen fire produced by a person before.]

Wow! I'd say that was cool, but...well. Fire.

Well, the drafts do. I recall one being fought in a mine shaft, and another one in the deepest layer of the ocean, I think.

Your dad is Vegeta. I'm sure talent runs in the family. You'll get the hang of fighting in no time. I'm sure by the first day of our training, you'll be able to take on whatever will come your way. Just remember, always aim for the wings! They're the instant killers, after all.

Oh, I'd love to! Not many people understand the woes of picking the right color combination. [A beat.] Anyway, I mostly use taijutsu - I don't think you're familiar with it - but it's something we ninjas use in hand to hand combat.

You will have to train very hard to achieve results so quickly. But, if you know how to alter the dome, to give you the gravity you need then I am willing to offer myself as a sparring partner. I think I should be able to alter my body to withstand that pressure.

I didn't forget. I just don't train much...like, basically I don't train. I just exercise and do high school gym class.

[She catches the tossed bottle, fumbling momentarily due to how cold it is to the touch, but manages to not drop it in the end.

Even as she opens her water, notably, she hasn't worked up that much of a sweat. Even with the speed she had to move to dodge (with varying levels of success), Bulla's not breathing too hard. Her body can handle plenty more before she'll be exhausted. She does appreciate the refreshing sip, though.]

Aaah! That feels great!

I'll try not to let you down.

[Even if she thinks she'll probably wind up doing so. She's not exactly anywhere near her dad's level.]

...I'm not really looking to kill anyone. I just want to knock them out.

Well, I'm definitely familiar with hand to hand combat. My dad's one of the strongest martial artists in my world. I'm not much of a fighter myself, but he's taught me the basics at least.

[Enough that any common thug would regret accosting her.]

Wow, you can do that? That's amazing!

[But it occurs to her that this gives her a perfect excuse for being there at the Battle Dome if her father happens to see her there. She's not training, she's helping someone else test her limits.]

My name is Bulla, by the way.

[ Korra chuckles. ] And that's not all! Check this out. [ She threads some water out a skin on her hip, a long tendril of liquid snaking through the air. ]

[That got a small, if not a little poignant, smile from Ino.]

Yeah, my dad's also the one who... trained me most of the time while I was growing up. [If this conversation happened a month before, her voice would show signs of breaking. But as it is, Ino's a lot stronger now and while acceptance of her father's death that she had yet to live is hard, she had already come to terms with it, however painful.]

[It was more than just a break to give her muscles a chance to recover-- although, the strength of her Saiyan ancestry was becoming clear. Cliff pushed his goggles up into his hair and cracked open a bottle himself, seizing the opportunity to reassess the situation.]

So, you're just a regular girl who does regular things, huh? Nothing wrong with that. [He joined her so that they could talk on a more casual level. There was no training for the moment.] Lemme guess. You're something of a whiz at it too.

[It's fascinating, watching Korra make the water move around in a graceful arc.]

All right, that settles it. If there's ever a water fight in Luceti, I want you on my team.

[It's a reminder of how lucky Bulla is to have her parents here in Luceti. People make friends and find roommates or get by on their own, but she's very close to her family and adapting here would have been much harder without them.

She doesn't realize that Ino's father is dead, but she can tell that the other girl misses her father nonetheless.]

Sounds like you were a more diligent daughter than I am.

[Bulla pulls the goggles off for the time being. They feel weird on her, and they look a little dorky, but she at least understands why they're necessary now.]

At gym class? Yeah. It's my best class. I'm not a bad student overall, but gym class is definitely raising my average.

Hey, athletics courses in school are good like that! [Gym was always his best subject too.]

What kinda sports do you like then? Basketball, volleyball, gymnastics..cheerleading?

[Yes. Cheerleading is considered a sport. At least, he thinks it should be.]
